Autumn is officially hear and with it comes increasingly cooler weather. Now is the time to get your home in order before the full brunt of winter strikes. Take advantage of these cooler days and knock out your to-do list before it becomes too miserable to try. Here is a quick list of 10 home maintenance tips that should be addressed now

  1. Have your furnace and chimney inspected and serviced by a qualified technician.
  2. Inspect your roof for missing tiles and other signs of damage. Have a licensed roofer correct any discrepancy.
  3. Clean out all gutters to ensure adequate flow during rain storms.
  4. Insulate all water pipes that are exposed to cold temperatures.
  5. Check and repair caulking around doors and windows
  6. Check caulking around showers, bathtubs, sinks and toilets. 
  7. Clean out dryer vent.
  8. Replace smoke detector batteries and ensure a fully charged ABC extinguisher is readily available.
  9. Change air filter in furnace
