Contract Theory for Agents
About This Event
This one-hour session at the Douglas Pasadena office (5:30–6:30 PM) teaches agents how contract theory shows up in real Maryland residential offers—so you can write cleaner contracts, reduce liability, and protect your clients when negotiations get tight. Using our “Making an Offer” workflow as the backbone, we’ll break down what makes an offer enforceable, how acceptance/counteroffer timing works in practice, and where agents most commonly create problems (missing addenda, weak contingencies, bad dates, unclear financing terms, disclosure gaps, EMD handling, and communication/receipt issues). You’ll leave with a practical framework for: pre-offer essentials (agency disclosure, buyer agreement, lender letter/proof of funds), building the offer package (price, EMD, financing, contingencies, settlement date, seller subsidy), selecting and attaching the correct Maryland addenda (inspection, appraisal, home sale, HOA/condo, lead-based paint, short sale, ground rent, local disclosures), and the “pre-write” steps that prevent surprises (call the listing agent, obtain disclosures, run a CMA, and re-confirm details with the lender).
